180 Seconds with the Youth Leader

We have chosen for this year the theme: “Standing on God’s promises” and motivated by Hebrews 10:2 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised.”  The idea behind this is to empower young people to be able to claim the promises of God in their day to day lived experience.  This is quite important given the challenges young people face outside the walls of church. Claiming the promise God has made and making them part of day to day life is a cushion against such adversity. Our job as an Adventist Youth (AY) team is to make sure that we get our young people ready for world that awaits them as soon as they step out the church door.

The AY team has lined up a variety of expertise to deal with the lofty task ahead. We have incorporated those with previous experience in youth ministries to offer input and assistance. We have also segmented our leadership team to deal with various needs of our youth by age group.  As a result you will find each age cohort will be catered for this coming year.

As for activities, we have lined up the usual youth emphasis and youth days. An added component is more social events with a focus on outreach. We also have home – coming days and are also working with the Family Life Department in a “Birthday Ministry” project. We also have fun, out-door activities planned for the summer.

Final words: It’s time for our young people to realise through God’s endless promises to us, that we have date marked with Him for Eternity. Would you pitch up at a date unprepared? How much more so do we need to be prepared for the who created us, loves us but more importantly can save us. Simply put- IT’S JUST TIME TO BELIVE WHAT GOD HAS SAID.
